1. What is Thrifthood about?

 

Our mission at Thrifthood is to help you make more sustainable choices, in a fun and easy way. We are here to promote the joy in discovering one-of-a-kind pieces, that don’t cost the earth.

2. What type of products do you sell?

​

We currently specialise in children’s clothing and shoes. However, we will be expanding our product offering very soon. Currently, we sell curated second hand children's clothing (including outfits), second hand children's shoes and gift boxes (which can include a toy). Each item is lovingly sourced and curated by us.

3.  What if I can't find what I need? 

​

Given the nature of preloved / slow fashion, we might not have a particular item in your size. We work with items that are already in production rather than mass produce more. However, please do reach out if you see something you like - we might just have something similar in stock or, failing that, we may be able to source it for you!

4. How do I purchase items?

 

You can either browse our website, send us an enquiry or purchase via our Instagram sales. Any questions, get in touch!

 

5. How does the Weekly Insta Drop work? 

 

  • Follow Us: Make sure you’re following our Instagram account (@thrifthooduk) and signed up to our mailing list to stay updated on upcoming drops and never miss out on our latest releases.

  • Turn On Notifications: Hit the bell icon on our Instagram profile to receive instant notifications whenever we go live or post about a new drop. 

​

  • Check Our Posts: We announce our drops through posts and stories on Instagram. Pay close attention to the details, including the date, time, and the items that will be available.

​

  • Join the Drop: At the scheduled time, we’ll post a series of photos and videos showcasing the items in the drop. 

​

  • Comment to Claim: To claim an item, simply comment on the post or story. Be quick—items are first-come, first-served and often sell out fast!

  • Confirm, Purchase and Browse: Once you’ve claimed your item, we will send you a direct message to confirm if you’ve been successful in claiming the item. We will send you the link to purchase your item through our secure website, where you can browse all of our latest collections and add any extra items to your order before check out. 

​

  • Stay Engaged: Follow our stories and posts for updates on future drops, styling tips, and behind-the-scenes content. We love interacting with our community and appreciate your support!

 

6. Where does Thrifthood source its products from?

 

There are many sources, We search online market places, charity shops, second hand warehouses, boot sales (and the rest) so you don’t have to! 

 

7. Does Thrifthood wash clothing before selling?

 

We are very stringent with our quality checks and steam all items before sale. We wash clothing infrequently because many of our items are new with tags or have never been worn. It is better for the clothing, the environment and your child to only wash clothing that needs it and allow you to wash the clothes as you see fit, with your usual detergent. 

 

8. How does the Bespoke Gift Box work?

 

You simply choose your size, gender, season and whether you want a soft toy – then pick a specific theme for your gift. For example, we had a customer who worked in an airport request a plane theme! Our Bespoke Gift Box makes the gifting experience even more special. Alternatively, we offer ready to buy gift boxes. Gift wrapping and message is included. 

 

9. Do you offer gift cards?

 

Yes, we offer gift cards that can be purchased on our website. They are a perfect way to give someone the freedom to choose their favourite secondhand items.

 

10. Is your packaging sustainable?

 

It certainly is! Our packaging is made by a small UK business, Tiny Box Company and all of our packaging is recycled and recyclable. 

 

11. Do you do returns?

 

Yes, we accept refunds for items returned in accordance with our returns policy. Please refer to our Shipping & Returns page for further detail. 

 

12. Do you ship worldwide and what are the costs?

 

Yes we do. We offer a flat rate within the UK of £3.95-£4.95 / £16.95 for Europe / £22.95 for Rest of World. For more details, please see the Shipping & Returns page. 

 

13. Can I donate or sell clothes to Thrifthood? 

 

We usually do accept donations; however, due to excess stock levels, we are not currently accepting donations or purchasing clothing from customers. We’ll keep you updated when this changes. If you’d like to donate your clothing, please consider your local baby bank. 

 

14. Do you only sell online?

 

We are primarily an e-commerce store. However, we do sell in-person at pop-up events. Please sign up to our mailing list if you’d like to be kept updated on our upcoming events!

 

15. What payment do you accept? 

 

We accept a variety of payment methods including credit/debit cards and other secure payment options available at checkout. 

 

16. How do I contact customer service? 

 

You can reach our customer service team by emailing hello@thrifthood.co.uk. We strive to respond to inquiries as quickly as possible. However, we do have a small team so we request that you allow 5 working days for a response. 

 

17. How do you support charities? 

 

We regularly donate surplus stock to our local baby banks. We also keep up to date with local baby bank’s wish lists and ensure we spread the message to our followers.
